It's time to look at the sky for the coming month of September.

We are once again in Eclipse season, with 2 eclipses in September. First of all is a Total Lunar Eclipse on 8th September followed by a partial Solar Eclipse on the 22nd. The Rahu/Ketu axis is particularly strong at present which adds to the effects of these eclipses. Read on to find out what’s coming up…

Wednesday, September 3rd 

Main Event: Jupiter/Rahu aspect

This week sees an exact aspect of Jupiter and Rahu with these two looking at each other. This brings a strong sense of optimism and ambition which needs to be tempered as the eclipses arrive. It is easy with this combination to think a new opportunity is ideal but then in time it can turn sour. This is because Rahu will send his deceptiveness through the apparent blessings of Jupiter. So it's good to be cautious and wait to see if things are as they seem.

Thursday, September 4th 

Main Event: Fasting for 11th day of the increasing Moon, Mars enters Chitra constellation until 24th Sept

Mars is very well placed in Chitra, his own constellation. This is an excellent placement for artistry, creativity and learning new skills. It's good to step into such themes without expectations but rather for the joy of doing them.

Monday, September 8th 

Main Event: Full Moon, Total Lunar Eclipse in Purvabhadrapada

The Full Moon energies relate to completion and endings. This eclipse lands in the constellation of Purvabhadrapada which is about deep revelations within. This suggests that something that has been brewing under the surface is coming to its conclusion or fruition. This constellation also relates to fiery anger and frustration. It's definitely a time where blowing off steam and releasing that which has built up inside over time can happen.

This time around the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse will be a total eclipse, so the effects will be very strong. Mercury is involved in the eclipse indicating that it's time to try something new, or new information is coming to guide the next steps.

Wednesday, September 10th 

Main Event: Sun/Ketu conjunction

Sun joining Ketu in Leo indicates an alignment of purpose with your beliefs and spirituality. Leo is the Palace, ruled by the Sun who is the King. Ketu here brings an energy of letting go of the throne and the power and authority that comes with it. Or you can experience a sense of being in your normal situation but sensing that you want to let it go and pursue something else.

In Vedic philosophy the principles of false ego and real ego are considered and discussed. False ego is where you are blindly stepping all over others in the name of what you think is your right. Real ego is the authentic expression of yourself based upon your inner truth that is in harmony with all others. Ketu in Leo brings these themes into clear view and asks the questions, are you acting from a true authentic place or not?

Sunday, September 14th  

Main Event: Mars enters Libra

Mars here challenges your ability to have good collaborations with others that aren't too competitive. Working for the good of everyone is indicated here but it's important not to take on too much.

Monday, September 15th  

Main Event: Venus enters Leo, Mercury enters Virgo

Venus has reached his least favourite part of the sky in Leo. This transit tends to favour individuality over teamwork. With the other transits in the sky currently, it can feel like a time of isolation and a need to focus on yourself.

Mercury in Virgo activates the theme of service to others and problem solving as well. Sometimes Mercury can be a bit over active in Virgo and spend lots of time solving problems that don't need to be solved.

Wednesday, September 17th  

Main Event: Sun enters Virgo, Fast on 11th day of decreasing Moon

Sun joins Mercury in Virgo to further amplify the themes of service and problem solving. Once the eclipse passes later in the week it is a great time to help others and to launch projects.

Monday, September 22nd  

Main Event: New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Uttara Phalguni

Solar Eclipses indicate new beginnings as they land on New Moons. This Solar Eclipse lands in Uttara Phalguni, the constellation of abundance. The eclipse also involves Saturn and Mercury which creates a push-pull energy of trying things but finding resistance at the same time. So this eclipse brings a need for patience and resilience with regard to what new endeavours come out of it. When dealing with Uttara Phalguni structure becomes a big theme and how well your structure is set up tends to determine how smoothly things can proceed. Otherwise the abundance energies tend to splay out.

The blockage coming from Saturn is likely to persist until January when Saturn once again crosses this part of the sky. This gives a potential for something to come up that needs a few months worth of attention before everything can flow.

Tuesday, September 23rd  

Main Event: Navaratri begins

Navaratri is an ancient festival honouring the goddess in her various forms, as she helps the spiritual aspirant cross over the various obstacles on the path. Each day a different form is honoured with special attention given to Durga on the 30th, and the day of victory on the 1st of November.

Wednesday, September 24th  

Main Event: Mars/Moon conjunction in Swati constellation

This is a great day for action and taking on any challenging work that you need to do. Swati is the constellation of the individual and Mars here inspires you to walk your walk and make things happen.

Tuesday, September 30th  

Main Event: Durga Puja

Durga is the form of the goddess who fiercely destroys all enemies. Durga represents the prison that we all live in within mundane conditioned consciousness. Durga seeks to help us break free of the shackles of our limitations. She especially relates to Rahu and the clearing of doubts and illusions.
