Transits in the sky for December

Astrology Transits for December 2025

It's time to take another look at the sky and see the transits going into the New Year.

December's email has been delayed a bit as my partner gave birth to our first child last week.

He is happy and healthy and his chart is pretty far out.

I might share a deep dive on that some day soon...

So back to the sky

there's a number of bigger transits occurring right now that each deserve their own level of attention

First of all - Rahu is now in Shatabhishak constellation. This amplifies independence and walking on your own path. This is the centre of Aquarius where Rahu is very strong. Rahu is ambition to achieve great things and this position amplifies that effect tremendously. This constellation connects to Varuna, the god of the oceans. So in a sense it's time to set sail with your ship of great aspirations and see where the waters of fortune bring you.

Sun in Jyestha next fortnight

The Sun is now moving through Jyestha and will come to the end of Scorpio over the weekend. This is a very sensitive part of the sky and it's good to be calm and careful from Saturday through until Tuesday. Moving from the watery Scorpio to the fiery Sagittarius brings a lot of flux in energies and it's good to wait for the Sun to be grounded in Sagittarius before doing anything important.

This month we had the Full Moon in Rohini on the 5th December, which was an amazing and bright Full Moon. This is an energy of realising fruits for your endeavours and seeing projects complete. It is a great energy to be finishing the year with. Perhaps some things have been a bit held up, Rohini Full Moon can energise a completion before Christmas.

Jupiter is now back in Gemini and continues moving retrograde until March. This is a great transit for Gemini and it's themes. Expect some extra sensitivity around social arenas and more ease in working with other people.

Mars is now close to the Sun, so we have the movement of Sun, Mars, Mercury and Venus close together over the next few months. This tends to bring a much needed co-operative energy. Especially Venus and Mercury moving closely together is very favourable for progress and productivity

Mars is now in Sagittarius and has a square aspect with Saturn. This is a powerful aspect where they are both looking at each other. It can create an intensity with an impetus to take action and do something about your situation. It can also bring the seed of events of challenge or conflict that will come to fruition when Mars reaches Pisces in early April. This is also a time to work hard on your foundations of what you are doing in life.

Sunday, December 14th 

Main Event: Sun/Venus conjunction begins for several weeks

Sun and Venus are not very good company and both are affected. Love relationships and material comforts can feel distant, while your sense of autonomy and personal power can be diminished. Ego can rise up and conflict can easily happen. It's good to have awareness, good boundaries and be careful of assumptions in dealing with other through these coming weeks.

Monday, December 15th 

Main Event: Sun in weakness

Sun is very weak in this moment as it changes sign. A good few days to be very calm and not take on anything too serious. This is a major change of gear for the whole cosmos.

Tuesday, December 16th 

Main Event: Sun enters Sagittarius, Fasting for 11th day waning Moon

Saturday, December 20th 

Main Event: New Moon in Moola, Sun/Mars/Moon conjunction Venus changing sign

This month's New Moon brings the energy of Moola constellation. Moola means roots. It's time to stand still, and become aware of your roots. What's holding you steady and firm where you are? How are your roots nourishing the tree of your life? Moola is about the details under the surface. It's also a time to see how the platform you work from supports everything you do. It's a great month to address finances and how they are flowing in your life. Mars and Sun agitate the Moon, further amplifying the themes above. Venus has some weakness going through the end of Scorpio, which adds to the effect of being close to Sun mentioned above.

Sunday, December 21st  

Main Event: Sun/Mars/Moon/Venus conjunction in Sagittarius, Mercury enters Jyestha constellation

When 4 planets get together, then a strong focus goes to that area of the sky. Now it is Sagittarius. This area of the sky is all about goals. In a sense the time for setting a course for 2026 is already here. Sagittarius wants direction, alignment, clear goals and an idea of what to do next to move towards them. When Mercury goes to Jyestha, the ultra-calculator can come out which can be great but it can also mean you go round in circles on the 'hows' of life which can get exhausting.

Thursday, December 25th  

Main Event: Sun/Mars close conjunction, Moon/Rahu conjunction

Christmas looks to be quite fiery and full of false assumptions and delusions. This is one of those moments where you may do well to fall sick on Christmas eve... Actually all you need to do is be aware of the fire, channel it into enjoying the moment. And not take things too seriously (Rahu/Moon).

Tuesday, December 30th  

Main Event: Mercury enters Sagittarius

Now the ‘ideas planet’ Mercury arrives to bring fresh perspective to the possibilities of life direction, path and values. This is a good transit for the beginning of a new year, and helps a lot if your new year involves a new direction in life.
