Astrology Transits for August 2025
It's time to look at the sky for the coming month of August.
Things have been unsettled with multiple planets in Cancer and it looks like they’ll continue to be unsettled for the first half of August as we have Mars opposite Saturn. Mars entered Virgo today and will amplify conflict and the sense of ‘fighting for a cause’ which Mars in Virgo exemplifies.
So it’s important with this transit not to be caught up in causes that are not deeply aligned to your purpose. Any shots fired will likely rebound and you will feel the repercussions.
Later in August looks more settled but we are also coming into our next eclipse season which will begin around the 21st of August, a month before our first eclipse.
I’ll be explaining the eclipse energies that are coming up soon. It is the first of 3 eclipses over the coming 12 months on the Leo-Aquarius axis which is always a sensitive axis with signs ruled by the enemies Sun and Saturn.
If you have Ascendent, Moon or Sun in these signs you are going to feel the coming eclipses. You will also feel the transit strongly if you have the nodes on this axis and are in a full nodal return, or half nodal return.
I recommend getting in touch if you want to know how you’ll be affected, what to be aware of and how you can navigate these transits. The nodes are shadow planets and they often bring surprises.
This month brings something of a challenge in that the unsettled nature of the transits combines with strong energies of giving and generosity exemplified by the New Moon in Pushya a few days ago.
So we have to give, but also not lose our balance in the process.
Saturn has turned retrograde which will continue until November. Expect a deep digging into Pisces themes if you have Saturn prominent in your chart.
Pisces is about what you surrender to, what is your higher mission and what is giving you freedom. It is the sign of the dreamer and Saturn here tends to pull the dreamer down to Earth to be more grounded and practical.
With Saturn transits it can be good to look back 29 years and see what was going on.
The year was 1996.
At the time I was in first year university doing an engineering degree. Boy was that not my future. But I had my dream and I was swimming in it for the first year of the transit.
Then as Saturn moved further through the sign I came to see that engineering was not my dream, but rather my nightmare.
I deferred.
Saturn does bring practicality into the equation.
Then I went and did something completely different. Herbal Medicine and Plants. It was a joy. But it still wasn’t it.
Another year, another deferment.
And finally as Saturn finished his transit, monk life beckoned and I found my real calling for that time, which was to leave the world completely and embark on a deep path of renunciation at 19 years old.
So Saturn isn’t really thinking about age. When the time is there to initiate a journey, he will break everything else. Or you could say, he breaks your inspiration for the other things.
Perhaps as Saturn embarks on his first retrograde in Pisces it’s time to pause and look back for yourself.
Also of note is that Ketu has now entered Purva Phalguni constellation. So if your Moon is there then expect some confusion, indecision and emotional uncertainties for the next 8 months, with peaks during the next 2 eclipse cycles.
Sunday, August 3rd
Main Event: Sun enters Ashresha constellation
Sun, the planet of purpose, is in Ashresha constellation for the next 2 weeks. There is certain machiavellian quality here where the dark side of Ashresha can bring you to an ends justifies the means state. Ashresha is a constellation demanding extra awareness to work with it’s seductive energies for good. Essentially here Purpose meets Inspiration which is a powerful combination when moving in a positive direction.
Tuesday, August 5th
Main Event: Fasting for 11th day of the increasing Moon
Thursday, August 7th
Main Event: Jupiter/Venus conjunction, exact on the 12th
Once a year Jupiter and Venus come together for a week in something of a guru meets guru dialogue. This year it is in Ardra and Punarvasu constellations, so it’s all about our teachers telling us what needs to be left behind and what needs to change. The exact conjunction is on the 12th. This transit often brings a contrast between what we are inspired to do and what we should do with a process to find the harmony between the two.
Saturday, August 9th
Main Event: Full Moon in Shravan constellation, Mars/Saturn exact opposition for the next 5 days
Shravan is a constellation of wisdom. It is time to see how wisdom has brought us to where we are. Ideally this wisdom energy tempers the conflict that is naturally occurring as Mars and Saturn face off this week. This is a good day to pause and appreciate achievements and give gratitude for opportunities. Be extra aware of conflict in the coming week and step away when needed.
Monday, August 11th
Main Event: Mercury turns direct in Cancer, Rahu/Moon conjunction
Mercury’s extended journey in Cancer is something of a challenge as I mentioned last month. Now that the retrograde is completing, ideally there is some harmony between the intellect and the mind/emotions. This day is likely a bit unsettled with Moon joining Rahu. Good to take it easy with no important actions or decisions.
Wednesday, August 13th
Main Event: Saturn/Moon conjunction with Mars opposite
Moon is under considerable pressure in this placement, so important not to enter arguments, conflicts or to try to resolve anything. It is a good time for space and to explore the tension that is within. Great to meditate, journal and raise awareness.
Thursday, August 14th
Main Event: Mars enters Hasta constellation
Mars in Hasta amplifies his practical side. It is time to get very grounded with work and implement strategies to make progress. It’s also a great transit to ground in anything that has been a bit airy or out of reach.
Saturday, August 16th
Main Event: Krishna Astami
This festival is the anniversary of the appearance of Krishna, the god of love connected to the Moon. This day is great for Moon rituals, as well as activities to purify Mercury such as bringing structure to your ideas and creative process.
Sunday, August 17th
Main Event: Sun enters Leo and Magha constellation
Sun returns home today and will be home for a month. This is a powerful transit as the King of the sky returns to his throne. This month is excellent for authority and leading themes, especially leading yourself on your journey of life. It’s also a transit that can bring ego out, so be aware about battling false egos. The first part of Leo is where Magha constellation resides and this is a strong focus on dynasty. It is a great time to contemplate your lineages this week, especially father lineage as we come up to the next New Moon which is particularly for rituals to heal these ancestral bonds.
Tuesday, August 19th
Main Event: Fasting for 11th day of decreasing Moon
Thursday, August 21st
Main Event: Venus enters Cancer
Venus comes to Cancer increasing social life, sensitivity and a desire for more comfort in life. Venus asks us, how can life flow more easily and how can my exchanges with others be lighter and more enjoyable for both of us? The next two days are great for social exchanges and reaching out to others.
Saturday, August 23rd
Main Event: New Moon in Magha, Pitri Amavasya in Magha constellation
This month the New Moon lands in Magha. This energy strongly connects to the past, our lineages, our karmic blocks from past trauma and what was passed on from ancestors, especially the male line. It is an important time to honour those who came before, give thanks for what they gave and make peace with the past.
Wednesday, August 27th
Main Event: Ganesh Chaturthi
This is the yearly anniversary of Ganesh’s appearance and his worship. This is a fantastic day for working with obstacles and Ketu related challenges. Ganesh particularly helps us with our practical challenges on a daily basis if we invoke his grace and support.
Saturday, August 30th
Main Event: Mercury enters Leo
Mercury joins the Sun in Leo, which is akin to the prince entering the castle. This is often a fiery ordeal where the young upstart’s new ideas and thoughts are challenged by the status quo. Prepare to have your new ideas questioned and your conviction tested over the coming weeks.
Sunday, August 31st
Main Event: Radha Astami
Radha is the consort to Krishna, the female goddess of love. This is a day of compassion and kindness with the loving care of the goddess expressed. It is a true honouring of the female day of the year which can be done at home, with your female loved ones or in a broader sense. Radha exemplifies surrender, loving service, patience and kindness. Through her grace we can invoke the genuine level of these qualities into our inner femininity.
