Astro Newsletter update

Hi ,It's time to look at the planetary movements for December 2024. First of all, the list of transits for all of planets for 2025 is now available and you can download it here. Of particular note next year is the eclipse season that is coming in March-April 2025. In many ways the transits during March-April are similar to the transits that were happening 5 years ago at the onset of the worldwide crisis and lockdowns. When I say that, I don't expect a repeat of that as this time Jupiter is not directly involved, but I think that it's a time of significant upheaval and caution. Most importantly I strongly recommend not travelling during these 2 months, especially from March 19th-April 19th. The general themes of this eclipse are that it is like a fork in the road and a decision is needed, one way or the other. These themes will land in the area (house) of your chart where the eclipse is happening (Virgo-Pisces axis) as well as in relation to any planet that is close to the eclipse point in the birth chart (0-5 degrees Virgo or 0-5 degrees Pisces). If Sun, Moon or Ascendent are there then you will feel the eclipse more strongly. I'll explain more about the eclipse as we get closer, but felt it important to mention it now as travel plans are usually a few months ahead of time.

Sunday, December 1st

Main Event: New Moon in Anuradha constellation

The New Moon this month lands in Anuradha constellation. Anuradha is about service and this month is a great time to help others and deeply understand the needs of others. This month is not a time to express authority or be demanding. This also includes themes of how to help and assist oneself, how to be one’s own best helper and supporter. Often we are engaged in patterns of self-sabotage and this month is a good time to tune into these habits and reset them. Mercury’s presence further helps the understanding and identification of these tendencies. This is a kind and gentle, feminine constellation and in general will bring a supportive and helpful month.

Tuesday, December 3rd

Main Event: Sun enters Jyestha constellation, Venus enters Capricorn

Jyestha constellation is about critical thinking. The Sun here brings the analytical energy of Jyestha into the natural Sun ruled themes of life purpose and direction as well as the house themes indicated by Leo in a chart. Jyestha can often bring up uncomfortable truths that need to be looked at. The following constellation Moola which comes next tends to be the energy to do something about what Jyestha reveals. Venus is happy in his transit through Capricorn, the sign of his friend Saturn. Capricorn seeks material results and successes which Venus is very happy with and supportive of. We can expect progress and productivity with Venus ruled themes.  In this position Venus is now in opposition to Mars which can bring tension in relationships as these two planets represent the male and female polarities and they are here in the sky in opposition.

Sunday, December 8th

Main Event: Mars turns retrograde in Cancer

Mars has begun a journey for the coming months in a challenging part of the sky for him. Those with Aries or Scorpio Ascendent or Moon can expect slow going until the middle of next year. Mars in Cancer is generally frustrated, but now he turns retrograde. This can be a moment to deeply look into why there is frustration and what needs to change. Mars represents determination and drive which can be low during this time. So perhaps there isn't the moment to do something about things and that may come from May-June onwards next year.

Thursday, December 12th

Main Event: Fasting for 11th day of the increasing Moon

Saturday, December 14th

Main Event: Sun at the end of Scorpio until 16th (3 days)

The last few degrees of Scorpio are a very sensitive point in the sky where there is a lot of tension going from a water sign into a fire sign. The Sun is in this part of the sky for a few days from 14th-16th and this is a good time to take things easy and let this transition happen. If you're looking to finish off your year strongly, I would suggest to do it before this date.

Sunday, December 15th

Main Event: Full Moon in Mrigashira constellation

Mrigashira is about searching and wandering which energetically clashes with the practical service tendency of Anuradha. Mrigashira is about mediation and bringing people together. Mrigashira asks what as I searching for in life. What do I want in life and do I have clear focus on what I want. There is a softness, and innocence with Mrigashira as these themes need to be handled gently. It's the subtle forces that have the most power. Mrigashira is connected to Mars and Mars' dynamic energy helps Mrigashira in this quest. This full moon is a great time to meditate upon your quest and what you are seeking to fulfil.

Monday, December 16th

Main Event: Sun enters Sagittarius and Moola constellation, Mercury turns direct in Scorpio

Sun is happy in Sagittarius, however takes a few days to settle in and the Sun in Moola can be an uncomfortable moment where difficult truths are not only revealed but there is the feeling that they have to be spoken, acted upon or otherwise dealt with. It is interesting that the Sun is in Moola constellation each year for the week leading into and the days following Christmas Day. A time when families often get together. I would suggest that the cosmos doesn't really agree that this is an ideal time to be meeting up with others if you don't want uncomfortable truths surfacing and having to be dealt with. Perhaps if that's you, you will get in touch and meet family after New Years, with the Sun in the gentler constellation Purvashadha.Mercury completes his retrograde in analytical Jyestha and we can now apply the lessons learned through him digging deep with this constellation.

Sunday, December 22nd

Main Event: Solstice

Solstice arrives on this day and marks the limit of the Sun's movement South. With the Sun stopping and turning, this is a time of pause for a few days.

Thursday, December 26th

Main Event: Fasting for the 11th day of the decreasing Moon

Saturday, December 28th

Main Event: Saturn enters Purva Bhadrapada constellation

Saturn's movement to Purva Bhadrapada brings his gaze back to this fire constellation. Saturn is putting the pressure on everyone for deep transformation as he moves through this part of the sky. Saturn will be in this constellation until April 28th. Planets here will be under his gaze bringing tests and challenges to their themes. What often happens here is feelings of anger as the fiery constellation is blocked. If you're feeling this way then Earth element and grounding oneself is usually the best.

Sunday, December 29th

Main Event: Venus enters Aquarius, Sun enters Purvashadha constellation

Venus joins Saturn in Aquarius where he softens the heaviness of Saturn for the Aquarius house themes of the charts. Although friendly Saturn will put some pressure on relationships as he hosts the natural relationship indicator Venus. This influence will be stronger in January when Venus gets closer in degrees to Saturn from about January 10th onwards.

Tuesday, December 31st

Main Event: New Moon in Purvashadha constellation

The New Moon this month lands in Purvashadha constellation. Purvashadha is a collaborative energy where we seek to work with others towards a common goal. This month will be great for partnerships and mutual assistance towards common goals, especially for the next 2 weeks while Sun transits this constellation. it's also very good for slowing down and taking time to plan and strategise future endeavours rather than be caught up in the present moment and what's needed currently.
