Hi ,It's time to look at the cosmic influences for October 2024. The eclipse season is still present and will affect what's happening for about another 4 weeks. So unexpected changes and events are possible throughout October.
Tuesday, October 1st
Main Event: Mars moves to Punarvasu constellation
Mars has been particularly destructive in Ardra constellation the last few weeks. He has moved to Punarvasu which brings more productive and transformative energies from now onwards. Mars will enter Cancer on the 20th so it’s good to get Mars related activities moving before that date arrives.
Thursday, October 3rd
Main Event: New Moon in Hasta constellation - Solar Eclipse - Pitri Amavasya
The New Moon this month lands in Hasta constellation. Hasta constellation is about meditation and bringing our dreams from the subtle realm into the physical realm. This coincides with a Solar Eclipse and the energies of this eclipse are about letting go, removal and endings. These themes are especially affecting the houses where Pisces and Virgo are in the chart as well as all of the parts of a chart that are connected to a planet that is in Pisces and Virgo in the birth chart. If Sun, Moon or Ascendent are there then the effect is especially strong. Hasta is not likely to flow easily with these eclipse energies, as it is mostly concerned with productivity rather than removal. This can be a time to let go of an idea or direction that you have been going in that needs to be left behind. Pitri means ancestors and this day is traditionally for the nourishment and remembrance of ancestry.
Friday, October 4th
Main Event: Navaratri begins
Navaratri marks nine nights of the success of the Goddess over all enemies which represents our own conquering over our enemies. This festival is held throughout India in various temples. This period is also energetically aligned to the eclipse season and removal themes therein.
Wednesday, October 9th
Main Event: Jupiter turns retrograde in Taurus
Jupiter has reached the latter part of Taurus and now pauses to start his retrograde motion until February 2025. This is an important moment to pause if you have Sagittarius or Pisces rising or Moon is in those places, or in a Jupiter ruled constellation (Punarvasu, Vishakha or Purvabhadrapada) in the birth chart. During retrograde he is likely to dig through the themes of the house where Taurus sits. Jupiter is a general benefic and when he stands still life can often be a bit more challenging until he picks up his pace again after a week or so. Taurus is the natural 2nd sign and relates to how we make money and experience material comfort. Jupiter can have a gift for us in these themes if we can take the time to pause and receive his wisdom.
Thursday, October 10th
Main Event: Mercury enters Libra
Mercury moves into Libra and joins Venus there. This transit is very good for business endeavours and networking with others. Libra is a sign concerned with partnerships so it’s a good time to communicate what is and isn’t working and gain clarity. perhaps there has been misunderstandings as Mercury has navigated Ketu and Mars influences over the last weeks. Now those can be resolved.
Friday, October 11th
Main Event: Durga Ashtami
Durga devi is a fierce form of Parvati devi, Shiva's consort. Durga means prison and she is the goddess who directly helps our perceived bondage and freedom in the material waves of life. On this day, she is prayed to for release from this material web which can be like a labyrinth for the soul. Durga is prayed to for help with Rahu North node difficulties and she is connected to the constellation Bharani, so planets there are also helped with prayers to her.
Saturday, October 12th
Main Event: Sun enters Chitra constellation
Sun here illuminates honesty and truthfulness as he moves through Chitra constellation. Chitra is about beauty and it is a great time to honour and increase that which is beautiful in our lives. Chitra is half in Virgo and half in Libra. The Libra half encourages us to see what is beautiful in others and how that is enhancing our own lives. Chitra can struggle with lies and deception so this can also be a time where uncomfortable truths come to light.
Sunday, October 13th
Main Event: Vijaya Dashami, Venus enters Scorpio
Vijaya Dashami marks the 10th day after the 9 nights of Navaratri where the goddess becomes victorious (Vijaya). This day is a day of success and endeavours started on this day in remembrance of the goddess in all of her forms will tend to have good outcomes. Venus in Scorpio can reveal secrets in relationships or hidden talents and gifts. Venus here is also a great time for Mahamritunjaya mantra practice for health as Venus transits the natural 8th sign.
Monday, October 14th
Main Event: Fasting for 11th day of increasing Moon
Thursday, October 17th
Main Event: Full Moon in Ashvini - Lunar Eclipse, Sun enters Libra
This is a very mild or almost eclipse (not actually in a group of eclipses) and likely brings to fruition or climax the lunar eclipse themes running at present about emotionally letting go or clearing things from the psyche. Ashvini is fast-acting and this can mean a sudden feeling of release when it has felt that things have been stuck. Sun has reached Libra where he is weakest. This transit asks for humility and cooperation with others as the King (Sun) is not able to influence things here and so authority doesn’t work. Time to put aside mundane ego and help the cause of everyone. Sun here can illuminate the partnerships that are important in our lives and who we need to work with.
Sunday, October 20th
Main Event: Mars enters Cancer
Mars is generally considered unhappy in Cancer and this transit can mean we need to try extra hard to get things done and make things happen. The Sun and Mars both weak reduces the fire energies a lot and it can be good to exercise and move energy to help balance the lack of fire.
Thursday, October 24th
Main Event: Sun enters Svati constellation
The Sun is especially challenged in Svati constellation, the area of the rebel. It is a time to celebrate our individuality and appreciate how we are different from others and that there is a harmony in that difference if we look at it with a healthy non-judgemental eye.
Monday, October 28th
Main Event: Fasting for 11th day of the decreasing Moon
Friday, October 30th
Main Event: Mercury enters Scorpio
Mercury has moved quickly into Scorpio. Here Mercury can become stuck in a procrastination loop dealing with the depths of Scorpio, especially with debilitated Mars currently. Great ideas ate possible but they can take time to percolate during this transit.
Friday, November 1st
Main Event: New Moon in Svati constellation
Svati has strong Wind/Air elements, and New Moon here indicates significant changes. wind is coming to move things forward and it is unlikely that we can hold onto what needs to go. The ideal New Moon after the recent eclipse season. Hanuman and Vayu are both helpful in handling these forces.
