It's time to look at the sky for the coming month of February and see the important combinations at play...Jupiter has now entered Bharani and will be there until April 17th. This combines the energies of the teacher and judgement. It's time to be tested to see what we have learned and what we know.

Tuesday, February 6th  

Main Event: Mars enters Capricorn - Day Lord changes sign - Fasting for 11th day of Waning Moon

Mars enters his happiest place in the sky on this day, his exaltation point. It's good to contemplate why Mars is so happy here and what he likes so we can tap into that for ourselves. Capricorn is a moving Earth sign and combines dynamic movement with the physical results of Earth, a combination that Mars loves as Mars wants to see a result he can touch. Mars is a planet connected to hard effort and work and Capricorn brings results and success as the natural 10th sign of the zodiac. When the Day Lord (Mars on Tuesdays) changes on the day he rules then caution needs to be exercised on that day, energy can often be very unstable at these junctions. This time is very good for us to address the themes connected to Aries and Scorpio in our own chart. Also Capricorn is strongly activated as well. Mars will tend to move energy and shift things in these places. This transit also combines with the New Moon in Dhanistha in a few days with Dhanistha also being ruled by Mars. So we have a dynamic month in front of us and it will be best to follow the energy of Mars, embrace the busyness and make things happen. Mars will be in Capricorn until March 15th. 

Saturday, February 10th 

Main Event: New Moon in Dhanistha constellation

Dhanistha constellation is about being seen and recognised. This lunar month brings themes of fame and exposure and revealing ourselves. It's also a time to be captivated by others and how they show themselves. There can be an inherent superficiality in all of these exchanges as well.Dhanistha is also connected to wealth, and it is a good time to see what we have that is valuable, the traits and qualities as well as the objects that we value. Seeking out value in where we are, what we have and what we are doing leads to that value increasing which is also inherently the desire of Dhanistha. 

Monday, February 12th  

Main Event: Venus enters Capricorn

Venus joins Mars in Capricorn, a place where Venus is happy. After spending time in the fire of Sagittarius, Venus is happy to reach the Earth of Capricorn where he can focus again on beautiful things, material achievements and the comfort that those achievements bring. Venus is friendly with the Lord Saturn and this period brings a good series of transits for Venus over the coming months. Venus and Mars will work well together in this part of the sky, and it is a great time for masculine and feminine energies to find practical common ground with these two planets in the Earth energies of Capricorn. This combination becomes even more favourable once Mercury leaves on February 20th.  

Tuesday, February 13th  

Main Event: Kumbha Sankranti - Sun changes sign to Aquarius 

Sankranti means that the Sun is changing sign. On these days the cosmos is changing gears and as the Sun is the light driving the whole system, it is best not to act on these days. Sun joins Saturn for a month in Aquarius and we see the authority-subordinate themes amplified at this time. In this case the planet of authority, leadership, father archetypes is visiting the home or place of the child, the people, the subordinates. During this month, we need to be extra mindful of our ego (Sun) and its expression as we will likely see immediate counter-point and exposure of these parts of us. 

Wednesday, February 14th  

Main Event: Vasanta Panchami 

This day is commonly known as the first day of Spring within the Vedic seasons. It is a very auspicious day and very helpful for starting activities. The Panchami energy connects to Lakshmi Devi, who is the consort of Vishnu and the goddess of wealth. The planets on this day are mostly in a mood of enjoyment and this will bring a social and partying aspect to this day. Especially since we are in the lunar month of 'being seen'.

Friday February 16th Main Event: Naidhan Navtara in Bharani 

By the constellation system, the 7th constellation after the New Moon is the most unfavourable for the energy of the month. It is a good day not to endeavour too much as energetically it clashes with the month's flow. Bharani energy in a month of Dhanistha tends to break or destroy the illusion that Dhanistha is captivating us with, so today is a day to see how what we are being shown is not necessarily all it seems to be. Bharani is also connected to death (and rebirth) which is the great destroyer of wealth, as everything we build within this life must be let go of at the time of death. Bharani questions what is it that we consider to be really valuable, and Bharani's god Yamaraj, the god of death who judges one's karma upon passing comes to test how one has grown in life and where one's priorities lie, before arranging a fitting destination (rebirth).  

Tuesday, February 20th Main Event: Rudra deva's day, Fasting for 11th day of increasing Moon, Mercury enters Aquarius

Rudra is a form of Shiva and he is mainly involved in destruction. This is a powerful day to remove things that are in the way especially around the themes of this day for you personally.The Rudram chant is very wonderful to do or to listen to on this day. Strategy and planning around what needs to change in structure and hierarchy is indicated here. Mercury will also feel the tension of Sun and Saturn in this time and what he rules can suffer as he is dealing with these enemies, trying to help them get along. 

Friday, February 23rdMain Event: Sun enters Shatabhisak

Sun now enters Shatabhisak constellation joining Saturn there. The exchange between them will be very strong over the coming 2 weeks with exact conjunction on 29th February. 

Saturday, February 24th Main Event: Full Moon in Magha constellation

Magha is helpful in relation to Dhanistha as Magha is connected to royalty and dynasty. It supports the desire for being seen and fame that Dhanistha seeks out. Usually the Full Moon constellation clashes with the month's energy but here they are in harmony with each other. Full Moon on Saturday amplifies Saturn's energies and it is a good day for contemplation and meditation especially around the sunrise and sunset times.   

Tuesday, February 27th Main Event: Moon/Ketu conjunction 

Moon joins Ketu in Virgo without any aspect from any planets. Today and tomorrow can feel emotionally isolating and a feeling of no support towards what one is working on, or no recognition for the effort of what one is offering. Contemplation on these themes at this time is recommended for deeper clarity.
