Astro Newsletter update

Hi ,

It's time to look at the sky for December and see what's in store as we approach New Year.

Tuesday, December 5th

Main Event: Kalabhairava Astami

Kalabhairava is a form of Shiva who is very powerful and intense. This day is his birthday and he is worshipped in his temples with many offerings. Kala means time, and this form of Shiva rules over the moments of time. Connecting to this deva is great if you struggle to be on time, however he can be a bit intense and your lateness may cause your life to be extra uncomfortable. Perhaps that's something that can benefit you... The other aspect of this deva is that he is specific to pacify Rahu and Rahu's excesses. So rituals on these themes can be beneficial as well if that's something that you're working with.

Saturday, December 9th

Main Event: Fasting for 11th day of decreasing Moon

Wednesday, December 13th

Main Event: Mercury turns retrograde in Sagittarius, New Moon in Jyestha

Mercury is transiting through Sagittarius this month, giving insight and playfulness to the sign of dharma. Perhaps there's a new direction for our alignment to be placed in. A new target to be aiming at. As the stationary day is a Wednesday ruled by Mercury, it's good not to have too much planned for this day. This month the New Moon lands in Jyestha constellation, ruled by Mercury. Jyestha is a refining constellation, taking the growth of this past month and trimming it, refining it and calculating what to keep and what to get rid of. Sometimes this process can be a bit critical and negative, both themes to be mindful of during this lunar month. Jyestha tends to thrive as healthy opposition or counter-point to the ideal at hand. The devil's advocate poking holes in our delusions about how we are convincing ourselves that our endeavours are truly aligned or truly on purpose.

Saturday, December 16th

Main Event: Sankranti - Sun enters Sagittarius

Sun enters Sagittarius on this day. This is called gandanta when Sun goes from a water sign to a fire sign, so ideally the 15th and 16th will both be days of caution and care. Sun changing sign is a time to allow the universe to shift gear and the Sun to become established in the new sign that he is entering.

Monday, December 18th

Main Event: Naidan Navtara in Shatabhishak

Shatabhishak constellation brings a bit of chaos and disorder to the structure of Jyestha, so expect the unexpected on this Monday. I think it's best to start flowing with these New Moon energies from Tuesday 19th onwards.

Friday, December 22nd Main Event: Solstice

Sun completes the daksinayan (southward journey in relation to Earth) on this day and begins to head North once again. As this is a day of stationary Sun, all Sun related themes need to take rest. Sun is inherently about goals and achievements as well as our place in the world. It is time to let go of these Sun driven themes and embrace the collective. This marks the shortest and longest days of the year, depending upon your hemisphere. As the Sun is one of the two luminaries in the sky, it is time to shine that light on our lives, take a pause and see what we can see.

Saturday, December 23rd Main Event: Fasting for 11th day increasing Moon

The next two days are challenging for the Moon. Today the Moon energies will tend to bring procrastination, blocking the flow of growth for the current lunar month.

Monday, December 25thMain Event: Venus enters Scorpio

Venus leaves his home of Libra and enters Scorpio, the sign of his friend Mars. Here a playfulness enters the depths of us, and Venus suggests we can have fun with what is normally avoided by us, the deeper parts of us. Venus is the planet of love, so it's time to love those deeper parts of us and by doing so, bring ourselves into a more complete and whole state.

Wednesday, December 27th Main Event: Full Moon in Ardra

Full Moon comes in Ardra constellation this month. Ardra is connected to the destructive dance of Shiva and the theme of deletion. On this full moon we are encouraged to sit peacefully and mindfully with the theme of what it is that we need to delete from our lives. whether that be persons, places, things or circumstances.

Thursday, December 28th Main Event: Mars enters Sagittarius, Mercury enters Scorpio

Mars joins the Sun in Sagittarius, calming the tension that has been felt while he's gazing at Saturn in Aquarius. Here Mars gives us extra drive and determination to align ourselves to our dharma and purpose. Mars loves the fire here and with Sun we can expect significant transformation in our personal direction and spiritual purpose, ably assisted by Rahu's presence in Pisces, the natural 12th sign. Mercury continues his retrograde and re-enters Scorpio. This will give extra energy to the lunar month themes of Jyestha, and more insight into the process of refinement mentioned above.

Sunday, December 31st Main Event: Jupiter turns direct in Aries

The new year arrives with Jupiter standing still after several months of retrograde motion. The spring is fully coiled and now Jupiter is ready to swiftly transit through Aries and reach Taurus on May 1st. It is time to reassess everything that this retrograde has brought in terms of digging into issues around the house themes in relation to Sagittarius and Pisces in one's chart. Our aim needs to hold true as the force of Jupiter's movement will bring large gains in those areas over the coming months if we maintain our focus.
