Astro Newsletter update

Hi ,

It's time for our fortnightly look at the skies and there is a lot going on at the moment, and in the coming weeks. January has seen a lot of mixed influences, with the main theme being Venus retrograde which we only get about every 18 months. As a follow up to the eclipse cycle from Nov-Dec there have been further themes of digging into relationships which is one of the main themes of Venus. Venus has now turned direct having completed retrograde motion on 29th Jan. We still have Mercury retrograde for a few more days.

Tuesday, February 1st

Main Event: New Moon in Sravan constellation, Sun/Moon/Saturn conjunction - Sun and Saturn dance for the next 7-10 days

The overall theme in the sky over the next fortnight is one of tension with several significant planetary conjunctions. This is described as planetary war, where planets battle each other and it brings tension in the themes that the planets indicate. The most significant of these is Sun joining Saturn in Capricorn. Sun and Saturn are enemies and their father-son dynamic comes at this time in the mood of the father Sun going to the son's home Capricorn (owned by Saturn). This can feel like a patronising energy, where the parent/father/authority figure wants to tell their child/subject how things are, or how they should be done. Meanwhile the child/subject is trying to show the parent/authority a different way of seeing things or a different way of doing things. All of this is playing out in the constellation Sravan which is about listening. Can those in power hear the message from their subjects? Can the parent hear from the child and adjust? These themes kick off with a bang on Feb 1st with the new Moon in Sravan joining Sun and Saturn there and will continue throughout this lunar month until the next New Moon in around 29 days. The mental/emotional/psychological theme to be explored this month is about listening and speaking. What are you listening to, and what are you saying to others? What sound are you propagating? Is that a healthy productive sound or a negative, destructive sound? Sravan connects to traditional wisdom and knowledge passed down orally which has been the usual way for centuries. It's a great month to realign the sound in our lives with our ideals and our traditions.

Thursday, February 3rd

Main Event: Jupiter/Moon conjunction in Satabhisak constellation

Moon combining with Jupiter in Satabhisak gives a moment of magic, where a spark of inspiration is possible on this day. This is a good catalyst for positive shifts that can carry through the increasing Moon phase.

Friday, February 4th

Main Event: Mars to Purvashadha constellation in Sagittarius

Mars enters the constellation of alliances and preparations for battle in the centre of Sagittarius. With Mars here he is keen to assess inventory, resources, allies and the technical aspects of strategy for good outcomes. Mars is very strong in the fire sign of Sagittarius and will use that fire to pursue these goals. The Lord of the constellation Venus is also there indicating our second significant conjunction - Mars and Venus. Mars and Venus are friends but when conjunct we have the themes of love and war colliding. Judgement of Mars and Mercy of Venus are also significant themes. Venus' rulership of the constellation would tend to indicate that love will overrule war in this case. Of course the constellation is about preparation for war and as Sun Tzu has explained the best way is to have the war already won through strategy before the need to act.

Saturday, February 5th Main Event: Sun/Saturn exact conjunction, Mercury moves direct

Sun and Saturn are now at the same degree. Be very careful at this time regarding conflicts and battles. With Mercury turning direct on this day as well, it's a good day to take it easy.

Monday February 7th

Main Event: Sun to Dhanistha constellation

The first step of the Sun moving away from Saturn is for Sun to move to the next constellation which is Dhanistha. Dhanistha is about popularity and here the Sun/authority has a chance to become popular by acting upon the wisdom received in the previous constellation.

Wednesday, February 9th

Main Event:  Venus/Mars conjunction in Purvashadha constellation, Moon/Rahu conjunction - Kala sarpa yoga and its presence for 3 months on fortnightly cycles, Ketu to Vishakha

Venus and Mars are in exact degree on this day, with Venus holding his position in front of Mars further showing the victory of love over war. Moon joins Rahu on this day amplifying desire. Once again it's a good day to focus on love, grace and mercy and avoid themes of war, selfishness and personal desire. Ketu moves to Vishakha constellation. Ketu indicates the past and Vishakha is about goal-oriented partnerships with a view to joining with others who have what we lack. During this transit we can see people or situations from the past returning with what we need for us to pursue current goals. Ketu's movement here will be for about 8 months. An interesting phenomena in the sky is that when Jupiter and Saturn come together we get a special yoga where all the planets are on one side of the sky for about 6 months of the year. With Mars moving into Sagittarius we now have this combination for the next several months. This yoga is one of imprisonment and that bondage needs to be broken. Moon breaks it each fortnight as he moves through the opposite side of the sky, which starts on this day. However Moon does feel isolation being all on his own. This combination adds to the existing tension already mentioned. Rahu also transits through another constellation of war, Kritika, indicating battle may well be unavoidable in the coming months. Still the symbolism of Kritika is to cut, so there is the idea of cutting the bondage, as long as the Sun, its ruler, is supportive of that ideal. Something that is likely more possible once Sun goes to Pisces in about a month.

Saturday, February 12th

Main Event:  Fast for Ekadasi, Sankranti - Sun to Aquarius, Sun/Jupiter together in Aquarius

Sun changes sign to Aquarius on this traditional fasting day. A day to take it easy. Sun joins Jupiter for a meeting of authority figures - the king consults with the guru which is usually an auspicious moment. This is a great time to get advice and reach out to your guides.

Sunday, February 13th

Main Event:  Many planets in fun/jovial mood for 3 days

The overwhelming mood of the planets for the next 3 days is one of party mode. So I wouldn't be too goal oriented. It's a great time to have social events and parties to increase connection between people.

Monday, February 14th

Main Event:  Be with lover/loved ones, find clarity about what gives you joy in life

Valentine's day is a very favourable day this year, indicating the opportunity to get together with loved one(s) and partners and to give some energy to those areas of life.

Wednesday, February 16th

Main Event:  Full Moon in Magha constellation

Full Moon is at the start of Leo in Magha constellation. The wisdom of New Moon in Sravan is delivered to the royal seat in Magha. The guru has conjoined with the King (the Sun) who is observing the Full Moon in his home (Leo). All opportunity is present for those in authority to heed this knowledge and wisdom and adjust their actions in a healthy way.
