Astrology Transits coming up for May
It's time to look at the sky for the coming month of May.
The New Moon in Bharani this month brings an energy of acceptance of what is ending and what is beginning. With the recent eclipse season these themes have been very present and Bharani will help to ground the new outcomes. Bharani energetic moves down and grounds. It is a good energy to get real and be honest about what is going on.
This month brings lots of significant transits with Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu changing sign this month.
Mars continues in Cancer throughout this month and that is a time of caution regarding Mars themes, machines, vehicles, equipment can bring issues and it's not a great time to buy these items until mid June onwards.

Monday, April 28th
Main Event: New Moon in Bharani
Bharani relates to the goddess Durga as well as the god Yamaraj. This constellation is deeply connected to birth, death and the mortal coil. It relates to conditioning and how we are trapped in a prison (durga) of our own making. This month is great to become aware of limiting beliefs and conditioning and how that holds us back and prevents us from birthing what we really desire.
Yamaraj is feared by many as he is the god who deals out our karmic reactions upon death for our past deeds. As you sow, so you reap, and Yamaraj arranges the next birth of our reincarnation. Yamaraj though is simply a teacher who is trying to help us to see ourselves and how to improve our way of acting (karma) so that we can succeed on our bigger path.
Wednesday, April 30th
Main Event: Aksaya Tritiya, Parasuram Jayanti
Aksaya means pure and this day is a special day that comes once a year and brings brightness of the luminaries, the Sun and Moon. This day is very positive and excellent for intentions, beginnings, donations and good activities.
Parasuram is the Vishnu avatar connected to Venus. His archetype is the scholarly boy who becomes a warrior in order to fight for what he loves. If we really love somone or something we will stand up for that thing and Parasuram inspires us to do that. Similarly Venus sometimes needs to get active rather than passive and this day is great for rituals to bring Venus into a more active state.
Sunday, May 4th
Main Event: Ganga Jayanti
The Ganga is the most famous river in India running from the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal. It adorns the head of Shiva and symbolises purity and cleansing of everything. Ganga famously maintains purity in any circumstance and this day is great for purification rituals both inwardly and outwardly.
Wednesday, May 7th
Main Event: Mercury enters Aries
Mercury leaves the association of Venus, Rahu and Saturn and proceeds to Aries. Now Mercury can more broadly express his energy from the eclipse of trying new things and heading in new directions.
Thursday, May 8th
Main Event: Fasting for 11th day of increasing Moon.
Sunday, May 11th
Main Event: Nrsimha Jayanti
Nrsimha is the Vishnu avatar that is connected to Mars. This is an excellent day for rituals related to breaking through obstacles, especially internal or subtle ones. A good mantra is namas te narasinghaya.
Monday, May 12th
Main Event: Full Moon in Vishakha, Buddha Jayanti, Kurma Jayanti
Vishakha is a masculine energy of order and structure. In a month of Bharani's energies it is a good Full Moon to help complete the arrangements for the new endeavours that are coming in now.
Buddha is the Vishnu avatar connected to Mercury. This is an excellent day for meditation, inner contemplation and the activation of Mercury.
Kurma is the Vishnu avatar connected to Saturn. Rituals to Kurma are excellent to come into harmony with Saturn and to develop the patience required when working with Saturn. Kurma is connected to sadhana which is the consistency of ritual practice that is required for progress.
Thursday, May 15th
Main Event: Jupiter enters Gemini, Sun enters Taurus
Jupiter reaches Gemini where he spends most of the next year. Jupiter in Gemini expands social connections. It brings Jupiter into the field of Mercury where he takes on more of the 'step-father' role of rules and restrictions. Jupiter here can enhance our experience of what is good and not good. So it's important to be aware of not getting overly caught in this duality.
Sun in Taurus is a happy place for the Sun and enhances the idea of comfort in life. The Sun represents purpose and Taurus asks for practicality and groundedness. This is a time to 'get real' about what is working and completely ground that idea in. This energy aligns to Bharani also which is about the physical act of birthing things rather than the idea of it.
Monday, May 19th
Main Event: Rahu enters Aquarius, Ketu enters Leo
Rahu is co-ruler of Aquarius with Saturn. Rahu returning home brings a moment for increased inspiration and in some cases revolution. Leo-Aquarius is the axis of authority and servitude, where themes of who is in charge play out.
Ketu in Leo in a dissipating energy indicating the loss of power of that which is established, and Rahu brings the rise of that which is suppressed. These archetypes can play out on many levels, in personal relationship dynamics and workplace situations as well as extending to global political events and countries' interactions.
This transit lasts for 18 months until the end of 2026 and the next 3 eclipses will be inflexion points carrying these themes. Ketu has no head, and it can be a situation where those leading are clearly shown to be 'headless' of 'clueless' while simultaneously Rahu inspires those who are being led to stand up and do something about it. This may be peaceful adjustments, or it may bring conflict.
Interestingly as this transit begins Mars enters Leo on June 7th which can trigger serious conflict. Mars will be there for 5-6 weeks before moving on to Virgo. Saturn is in early Pisces, so that will bring Saturn-Mars opposition. So May is looking positive but June-July could bring a lot of upheaval.
Friday, May 23rd
Main Event: Fasting for 11th day of increasing Moon, Mercury enters Taurus
Mercury comes to Taurus where he only stays for a few weeks. This is a very practical energy of calculating how we can make things work better in the physical arena of life. Mercury is an Earth planet and in this Earth sign will help to keep us grounded.
Tuesday, May 27th
Main Event: New Moon in Bharani constellation
This month coming we enter the energies of fertile Rohini which is like cow dung sprayed liberally through the environment. The difficulty with Rohini is that often the weeds grow just as well if not better than the plants. Rohini can struggle to discern in this sense. So we are likely to see a lot of growth and expansion this month, new ideas and new directions.
But it's important to remember that Rohini lacks discretion and we may find ourselves uprooting things that grow in this time later on because they are discovered to be a weed and not a plant. It's a good time to stay focussed upon what you are growing and take care not to feed the weeds, internal and external.
Saturday, May 31st
Main Event: Venus enters Aries
Venus leaves Pisces after an extended stay. Aries brings a dynamism to Venus which often gets a bit lazy while enjoying the Piscean wave. It's a good transit to act upon Venus themes, romance, relationships and making life happier and more comfortable.
So that’s the journey of May which brings us a step closer to resolving everything that has come up over the last few months.
